Our first few days in the land of the rising sun were untouchable.Appon arrival Niseko had just recieved a massive dump of snow. Our first day at Hirafu skifield would have to be up there with some of the best powder riding i’ve ever had.Bottomless in the trees and a couple of feet on piste.
The resort itself was quite steep and had plenty of pillows and natural features to drop off. As it got dark it was really just the beginning , you could see alot more, there were alot less people and the storm was still topping up the tracks we’d left earlier that day.
The house we’re staying in is run by JR Apartments . Mr Yoshii San ‘the manager’ and Miss Ti ‘the house keeper’ welcomed us into the +100 year old japanese house . Its equipped with a large kitchen ,which Ti spends here entire day in,and a bar which we spend alot of our evenings in .If we want to have dinner cooked for us Miss Ti ,starts in the morning ,slowly preparing our meal which we have at 7 . The meals cost us 600 yen , roughly $12.00 nz dollars which includes soup , and three side dishes served with rice, and damn that lady can cook.
From our driveway we can see two large ski jumps with derolict judging towers .We hit one of the jumps earlier this week . The jump looked like you had to land 60 feet from the take off which was a 10 foot stepdown ,as usual we had to go a bit bigger, and on some hits would have been going about 70 feet and still found the landing to have alot of impact. In the end we got some good footage and photos and were satisfied with our efforts . It was a pretty fun day ,landing in powder once again in japan.
see ya soon
